PARTNERSHIPS

ACE Mentor Program – serves 90 juniors and seniors who are exploring careers in Architecture, Construction, or Engineering by partnering them with 90 mentor professionals from leading design and construction firms who volunteer their time and energy to host students one afternoon a week. After the year long mentorship, select students are offered competitive and well paid internships at the firms and 4 year scholarships.

Chase Leadership Academy – is a mentoring and scholarship program for Finance Academy students.

Chicago Architecture Foundation – Saturdays in the studio offers seven four hour skill-building workshops for high school students. Professional architects and designers teach each course.

Chicago Women in Trades – provides mentoring and apprenticeships

Citibank – provides guest speakers, professional development for teachers and $18,000 grant for the Finance Academies

Culinary Camp – Thirty to fifty students enrolled in the Culinary Arts Program are selected from a citywide applicant pool to participate in camp, which is usually held at Washburne Culinary Institute. The week-long camp focuses on advanced culinary arts, baking/pastry, or international cuisine.

Curie Branch of Park Federal Savings – A bank branch has been built in the school, and Accounting student bankers receive a salary to generate new business for the bank as well as serving as tellers.

CVS/pharmacy, Coalition for United Community Labor Force, UIC College of Pharmacy, and CPS Summer Pharmacy Enrichment Program – 8-week summer program for junior level students who are interested in pharmacy or other related health care fields.  Students participate in an academic enrichment program at the UIC College of Pharmacy, work in CVS/pharmacy stores, and receive enrichment workshops.

Deloitte – provides an after-school program with paid internships.  Students in the after-school program work in teams to create a Ren2010 school.  All after-school participants are eligible for paid internships at small businesses or not-for-profits, and Deloitte donates the salaries to ETC.

Great Lakes chapter of the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) – has provided funding for two Chicago Public Schools teacher to obtain IPC 7711/7721 Rework and Repair Application Specialist Training Instructor certification training at BEST, Inc.   GLSMTA has been an advocate in promoting the Curie Metropolitan High School electronic assembly program to businesses throughout the Chicagoland area. GLSMTA has organized, sponsored, and funded field trips for Curie students to the Assembly Expo, Panasonic and Argonne National Laboratory.

Health Careers Pipeline Initiative – Introduce health careers exploration at the elementary level with curriculum modules for the science, math, and social science teachers.

Health Science Summer Internship Program – Health Science students from across the system are selected to work for 6-weeks in various hospitals and  health care facilities for the summer.

Junior Achievement – provides the “Ask the Expert” and “Ask the Collegians” series of speakers from specific businesses and college majors

Lincoln Park Savings Bank – provides a full range of experiences for students, including job shadowing, guest speakers and paid internships.

Microsoft – will host 50 Info Technology students for an Innovation Day.  Students will visit Navy Pier, where they will be exposed to the latest technologies of Microsoft, partnering organizations and other innovative firms.

National Association of Black Accountants – sponsors a summer camp, the Accounting Career Awareness Program.  This week-long overnight camp is held at Chgo. State University, and students learn about the Accounting field through classroom activities, speakers from the industry and site visits to Accounting firms.

National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) – In addition to supplying classroom support for teachers, NFTE provides professional development, work-based learning opportunities for students, and a citywide business plan competition with cash prizes.

Northern Trust Bank – hosts job shadows and hires students for paid internships

Pepsico – provides paid internships

Radio Disney – provides guest speakers and field trips for Radio/TV students

Riceland Rice, Minute Rice & Education To Careers Summer Culinary Camp – This camp is for students entering sixth through ninth grade who love to cook. Space is limited to twenty students per site (TBA - late spring) and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Robert Morris College – hosts Culinary Demo Days for Culinary students and Accounting Careers Day for Accounting and Finance students.

Rush University Medical Center – Science and Math Excellence Network (SAME) – K-12 program to emphasize science, math, and health career exploration for students.  The initiative provides college prep workshops, ACT/SAT prep, science/ math tutoring, internships, industry exposure, and scholarships.

Seaway National Bank – provides paid internships.

Summer Pharmacy Enrichment Program – Thirty junior level students are selected citywide to participate in an 8-week summer enrichment program centered around pharmacy careers.  Students spend 3-weeks at the UIC College of Pharmacy in an academic enrichment program and 5-weeks working in CVS/pharmacy stores as pharmacy technicians.  Pre-pharmacy club meetings are offered throughout the senior year.

TCF Bank – hires and trains Finance Academy students to work in their bank branches.  Students also receive credit from UIC, where they are trained on various financial literacy programs that are delivered to elementary grade students.

TrippLite Corporation – has provided internships to Curie electronics students, every year for the last four consecutive years.

Trump Organization – hosts field trips to the new Trump facility for Construction students

University of Illinois at Chicago – hosts Accounting Careers Day in collaboration with Deloitte.  In addition, UIC will facilitate a “business student shadow day,” where high school students will attend classes and spend a day with UIC business students.

WVON – hosts field trips and provides job shadows
